Day 3 - History at its finest

Greece - May 2019

We started out the day by traveling on the motor coach around the city of Athens. We first stopped at the Olympic Stadium for a photo op in the Syntagma square.  It was open to the public to walk around inside this ancient landmark. But to view it from outside the gates was impressive. Back on the bus to Make our way to the majestic land that houses the famous Acropolis. As I hiked up many flights of stone steps that lead me to the very top of these structures of history. The Acropolis! Here is where I viewed the Parthenon. I find this is one of the worlds greatest architectural builds. That was a part of the Athenian Democracy. To see the Temple of Athena Nike that was home to the statue of the goddess. It was said that her wings were clipped to prevent her from leaving the city. To end this visit I had time to go through the Acropolis Museum. Inside this museum was like stepping back in time as you were able to read in-depth about the history, and artifacts that have been discovered through the years. This helped paint a picture in your mind of the rich history that Athens holds.- J.O.
